It doesn’t rain but it pours

I’m having issues with all three of the designs that are scheduled to be released next.

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

  • I can’t figure out a color (or colors) for the tree limbs.
  • Even if I could figure out a color (or colors, plural) for the tree limbs, I still can’t figure out how to get that part charted. My pattern making program doesn’t do vectors (hence, no curves), so… I’m stumped. (I covet Illustrator.)
  • And even if I could figure out a color (or colors) of the tree limbs and figured out how to get that part charted, I can’t figure out what kind of printer would print a chart that big so I can fold it. And get this–I used to work for a blueprint company and I still am not sure if I can get it from hand-drawn chart to finished oversized print.
  • And then there are the beads and the charms, but at the rate I’m going, I’ll never get there.

Ooooh, Pretty Bubbles! (you know, the ones I blew down below)

Colors don’t come out right in floss the way they do on paper. sigh

Boudica

Everything just conspires to get in the way of this one. It’s not her so much as dealing with distractions and mistakes in the above two monsters.

Effervescent Designs logo

I have two small children to herd to church, where I intended to work on this project. I still don’t think God would mind, but my children won’t let me.

And another thing! Today I caught myself browsing the web for MORE ideas for designs. How self-destructive is THAT?

Here’s the thing: I do not do multiple designs well. Even before I started designing and charting, I couldn’t rotate like normal people. I had to hit one straight through before I went on to the next. Here in the Sieve, that fact is a natural limiter to my stash collection. On the down side, if I got stuck on a pattern, I just stopped stitching. Well, now I can’t. I must work through these problems and I must solve them in a timely manner.

Maybe I should just set them all aside for a day or two and go do some manual labor.
